Harbourside

Many of Bristol's best hot spots are centred around the Harbourside area with bars, restaurants and pubs including Mackenzies and No.1 Harbourside situated within an attractive waterfront setting. The buildings are an interesting mix of repurposed dock warehouses and modern, glass-fronted structures offering a good choice of venues, themes, drinks and foods to suit all budgets and tastes. The Stable, with a focus on serving quality pies, pizzas and ciders, occupies one of these old warehouses and hallmarks of its industrial past such as terracotta tiling and brick walls form an integral part of the restaurants's ambience. Next door to The Stable is BSB The Waterside, a modern sports bar offering value for money food and drink with large screens for live sport and plenty of seating outside. Further along the waterfront is Za Za Bazaar. Opened in 2012 and claimed to be the largest restaurant in the whole country, the restaurant can accommodate around 700 diners at a time with another 300 or so drinkers in the bar. The extensive menu encompasses Far East, Indian, Tex Mex, Barbecue and European dishes in an artisan market-style buffet.

The River Grille on Prince Street is a short walk across Pero's Bridge, serving contemporary British dishes using locally-sourced ingredients from Bristol and the West Country. The restaurant's floor-to-ceiling windows offer great views across the harbour and the moored boats and barges.

Millennium Square

Opened in 2000 Millennium Square is one of the city's newer public spaces, located behind Canon's Wharf and Harbourside. The square is probably most well-known for its bronze statue of actor Cary Grant, enormous mirror globe (planetarium) and shallow ponds that are ideal for paddling in on a hot summer's day. Rainbow Casino, Slug & Lettuce and Las Iguanas overlook the plaza and those wanting to dance until the early hours Pryzm is a short walk to neighbouring Anchor Square.

Mardyke Wharf

Mardyke Wharf is a short ferry ride from Millennium Square where, amongst other restaurants, you'll find The Grain Barge, a large restored industrial barge originally built to carry barley and wheat across the Severn Estuary in the 1930s, and now enjoying a second life as a 'pub on the water' serving a good selection of craft beers and pub food supplied by independent businesses in the area. The outside dining area overlooks SS Great Britain.
